ब्रहाज्ञान का दान
एक बार राजा अकबर ने बीरबल को 300 सोन के सिक्के दिए और बोला कि इन सिक्को को इस प्रकार से खर्च करो कि
1 इनमें से 100 सिक्के मुझे इसी जीवन में पुनः प्राप्त हो जाएं।
2 इनमें से 100 सिक्के फल मुझे मृत्यु के पश्चात् दूसरे लोक में प्राप्त हो।
3 शेष 100 सिक्के का लाभ मुझे किसी भी प्रकार से कहीं भी प्राप्त न हो
बीरबल चल पड़ा - समाधान की खोच में! उसकी नज़र एक समुद्ध व्यापार के विवाह-समारोह पर पड़ी। उसे तुरंत पहले प्रकरण का हल सूझ गया। बीरबल ने उस व्यापारी को राजा की ओर से 100 सिक्के भेंट कर दिए और शुभकामनाएं दी। राजा की तरफ से भेंट पाकर व्यापारी प्रसन्न हो उठा। उसने आभार व्यक्त करते हुए बदले में राजा के लिए बहुत से उपहार व सोने के सिक्कों से भरी पोटली बीरबल को दे दी। बीरबल आगे की ओ प्रस्थान कर गया।
दुसरा गंतव्य था वह स्थान - जहां अभावग्रस्त लोग बेबसी में जीवन व्यतीत कर रहें थे। बीरबल ने राजा के 100 स्वर्ण सिक्कों से रोजगार के कई साधन उपलब्ध कराए। उन गरीबों को आय का ज़रिया प्रदान किया। इस शुभ-कर्म से वे गरीब अत्यंत प्रसन्न हुए और राजा को आशीष दिया।
अब शेष 100 सिक्कों के साथ वह अपने गांव लौटा वहां उसने ज़ोरांे-शोरों से संगीत व नृत्य का कार्यक्रम आयोजित करवाया। इस मनोरंजन पर उसने बचे हुए 100 सिक्के व्यय कर दिए।
कार्य पुर्ण होते ही बीरबल दरबार में पहुंचा। उसने तीनों घटनाओं को राजा के समक्ष रखा
1 जो धन मैंने मनोरंजन हेतु खर्च किया, वह पूर्णतः व्यर्थ चला गया। उसका कोई लाभ न तो इस जन्म में और न ही मृत्यु के पश्चात् आपका प्राप्त होगा।
2 जो 100 सिक्के मैने आपकी ओर से व्यापारी को भेंट स्वरूप् दिए, उनका फल आपको इसी जन्म में मिल गया। यह लीजिए, व्यापारी के सिक्कों की पोटली और उपहार।
3 जिन 100 सिक्कों द्धारा मैंने आपकी तरफ से अभावग्रस्त लोगों को रोजगार के साधन उपलब्ध कराए, उसका पुष्य फल अवश्य ही आपको दूसरे लोक में प्राप्त होगा।
अकबर-बीरबल की यह कहानी मार्मिक संदेश देती है कि आमोद-प्रमोद या मनोरंजन पर व्यय किया गया धन पूर्णतः व्यर्थ चला जाता है। वहीं रिश्तेदारी में, मेल-जोल में खर्च की गई सम्पति हमें किसी न किसी रूप् में वापिस प्राप्त हो जाती है। यह भौतिक लेन-देन का हिसाब अधिकतर इसी जन्म में पूरा हो जाता है। परोपकार या जन-कल्याण के कार्यो में व्यय किया गया धन पुण्य-फल में परिवर्तित हो जाता है, जो अगले जन्मों में भी मदद करता है।
परन्तु पाठकगणों, इन तीनों से श्रेष्ठतर है - ब्रहाज्ञान का दान! जो हमारी शाश्वत सम्पदा बन जाता है। ऐसी सम्पदा जो इस और उस लोक के समस्त बंधन काट देती है।

This story of Akbar-Birbal gives a poignant message that the money spent on entertainment or entertainment goes completely waste. At the same time, in relationship, we get back the property in some form or the other. The account of this physical transaction is mostly completed in this birth.
